About Lin

I am Ruth Franco, the person behind Lin Psychological Services. I am a qualified psychologist, psychotherapist and mindfulness instructor with 20 years of clinical experience, with permission to work in Finland granted by Valvira and a member of the Finnish and the Spanish Psychological Associations. Lin's clients can receive compensation from Kela to attend rehabilitative psychotherapy.

I got my Master's degree in Psychology from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain) in 1999, including a year as an exchange student at the University of Kent at Canterbury (UK). After graduating I took a specialization course in cognitive-behavioral therapy in Centro Ellis of Madrid (Spain) and I have continued receiving training and education all throughout my professional career, especially in the fields of trauma, self-regulation, mindfulness and self-acceptance. I have received my training as a psychotherapist with Integrum and Jyväskylä university and my training as a mindfulness instructor with Mindful Academy International. I have completed levels I and II of EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) with Instituto Español EMDR.

I have worked as a therapist in private clinics in Spain and established Lin Psychological Services in 2009, based in Helsinki, which has been offering since then psychological services, supervision and training to migrants and locals in English and in Spanish. I have also worked for two years in Finland as a social welfare supervisor in a shelter for migrant women victims of violence.

In addition to the clinical field, I have a special interest and experience in human rights issues, the development of high quality mental health services for all, migration, integration, protection from violence, promotion of gender equality and support of gender diversity.
